Crux Fermentation Project. It’s a brewery in Bend, Oregon and I’m proud to say that my brother is a brewer there! That being said, I might be a little biased when talking about his place of work...
Aside from the great beers, ciders, and snacks, this place has an awesome sense of branding. From the minute you arrive, it’s clear where you are.
Reclaimed wood is a common material in this area, however the fresh live edge look paired with cut steel creates an interesting juxtaposition that is unique to the Crux tasting room.
The Crux logo is successful in that when it stands alone, the meaning of it is still clearly known. No words are necessary to convey the meaning of the Crux logo and it can be easily found in several of the design elements of the space. When the letters of the name “Crux” are used, they make an impression in the custom made fire pit on the patio: in the day, a stunning sculpture and at night, a source of heat and light in the cool Bend Air.
If you have the opportunity to visit Bend, I highly recommend making a stop of Crux Fermentation Project. Have a craft beer, enjoy the charcuterie and reside the food trucks. Revel in the designed space around you, but take a minute to look out and notice the sunset over the mountains, because there’s really nothing like it. -C
